Start with a Time Audit

Before diving into automation, it’s key to know where your time is going. Jameela recommends conducting a detailed time audit over a week to track your tasks. By identifying repetitive and time-consuming activities, you can prioritize what to automate. Tools like Sensama, Toggle, or even a simple pen and paper can make this process easier. The goal is to focus on mundane tasks that take up significant time, freeing you to concentrate on high-value activities. Automation starts with awareness. Understanding your daily workflow is the first step to improving productivity.

Know the Difference Between AI and Automation

Not all automation requires AI. Jameela says that automation typically involves rule-based processes, like sending an email when an order is placed. In contrast, AI leverages data to make predictions or generate new outcomes. An example would be personalizing content based on past customer behavior. Understanding this distinction helps businesses select the right tools for their needs. Focus on solutions that solve specific problems, whether they involve simple automations or advanced AI systems.

Use Automation to Enhance Customer Relationships

For eCommerce brands, the goal of automation should be to strengthen connections with customers. While automation can handle repetitive tasks, customer-facing interactions should retain a human touch. This approach ensures that automation serves to support the customer experience. Automation should create time for meaningful engagement, letting businesses to deliver exceptional service and build loyalty.
